Beatrice "Bea" Flood Obituary

Beatrice “Bea” Calistia Flood, 89, of Attica, Ohio passed away at Mercy Tiffin Hospital on January 8, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

Beatrice was born on April 14, 1930 in Tiffin, Ohio to John and Calistia (Shultz) Myers. She graduated from Scipio-Republic High School in 1948. On April 19, 1950, she married John T. Flood in Greenup, Kentucky.

Bea was a homemaker and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother.  She was an avid gardener with a true green thumb. Her flowers, especially her roses, were admired by many. She also enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables, and sharing them with family and friends.  She enjoyed bingo and playing cards with her sisters, which later included her nieces and nephew. She walked everywhere, having never taken up driving, and you often had to run to keep up with her.

Bea was a proud and faithful Cleveland Indians fan.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Attica.  She was a dedicated volunteer at the Attica Food Pantry, and was a member of Missionary Society, serving for many years as Treasurer.  Bea also served for many years as a presiding judge of the Seneca County Board of Elections.

Bea is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, John T. Flood; five children: Cheri (Troy) Wilson of Attica, Marybeth (Mark) Byers of Republic, Charles (Marla) Flood of Attica, Jean (Leonard) Schank of Attica, and Judy Flood of Toledo; sisters: Wanda Bohlin and Barbara Rotruck; eight grandchildren: Chris (Andrea) Saylors, Stacey Saylors, Ryan Bishop, Jordan (Courtney) Schank, Lance Bishop, Joseph Flood, Hannah Schank, and Mahalah Schank; thirteen great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  She will be reunited in heaven with her parents; her son, Thomas Flood; and siblings: Clara Smith, Lucille Dudore, Evelyn La Fountaine, Gladys Cool, Lola Crowley, Doris Gauthier, Daryl Myers, Paul Myers, John Myers, Edith Stevens, two infant sisters, and an infant brother.

Donations can be made in Bea’s memory to the Attica Food Pantry or Seneca East Public Library.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 13, 2020 from 10:00 AM until the time of her Funeral Service at 11:30 AM at the Hanneman Funeral Home, 295 W. Tiffin St. Attica, Ohio 44807.  Long-time family friend, Rev. Rex King will be officiating.  Burial will follow in Attica Venice Cemetery.
