Harriet McCurdy

Harriet McCurdy, 93, of Cincinnati, Ohio and formerly of Liberty Center and Grand Rapids, Ohio passed away January 13, 2020. Harriet was born on May 16, 1926 to the late Harrison and Lina (Holland) Mears. She married Gehrett “Jack” McCurdy on January 14, 1947 and they were married for 51 years before he preceded her in death on March 14, 1998.

Harriet is survived by her daughter: Marie Ellen Derkis; sons: Rev. John (Clare) McCurdy,  Jim (Sandy) McCurdy, 8 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. Harriet was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gehrett; son Harry McCurdy; grandson Gerard Sean McCurdy; and Harry & Florence Jacobs of Whitehouse who were her “Stand-in” parents.

Harriet was a homemaker. She was an avid reader and loved to cook for her family. She loved children very much and babysat for many children over the years. Cats were her favorite animal and her favorite music to listen to was Lawrence Welk. Family was very important to Harriett and she loved spending time with them. She will be greatly missed by everyone.

Visitation for Harriet will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 10:00 AM until the time of her funeral service at 11:30 AM in the Hanneman Funeral Home, 24084 W. Second Street, Grand Rapids, Ohio 43522. Interment will be private for the family.
