Bernard E. Egts

Bernard “Bernie” E. Egts, 92, of Findlay, Ohio passed away Friday, December 13, 2019 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loving family.

Bernie was born on September 8, 1927 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Louis and Doretta (Campbell) Egts. He married the love of his life Norma Jean Minnich on September 10, 1948 and she preceded him in death in 1992. Bernie is survived by his loving daughters Diane (Thomas) Hildebrand of Whitehouse, Ohio and Connie (John) Kelly of Findlay, grandchildren: Michele (Stephen) Powell, Christopher (Jenni) Felkner, Benjamin (Maureen) Hildebrand, Andrew Hildebrand, T. Michael (Sena) Hildebrand, Cassandra (Michael Powell) King, eighteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and his canine companion Fletcher. He was preceded in death by his son David Egts

Bernie retired from the Ohio State Highway Patrol as Supervisor of Drivers Examination in Northwest Ohio after 30 years of service and also worked for the Toledo Blade where he served the Bowling Green and Findlay areas for nearly 60 years. Bernie was enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was working in his yard or out on the lake fishing. He was a wonderful cook, excellent woodworker and always kept his home in immaculate condition. Bernie was a well respected and simple gentleman who would help anyone in a time of need. The most important part of Bernie’s life was his family, he cherished the time he spent with them.

Visitation for Bernie will be on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 from 4:00-8:00 PM in the HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 201 Osborn Ave., Findlay, Ohio 45840. Bernie’s Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay where he will be reunited with his loving wife Norma.

The family of Bernie would like to send there deepest gratitude to Dr Dawley and Bernie's nurse Heather for the compassionate care they gave to Bernie.
