Gerald Collert Obituary

Gerald Jerry Collert, 83, of Findlay passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020 surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his own home.

Jerry was born on October 19, 1936 in Mt. Cory, Ohio to the late William and Lena (Osenbaugh) Collert. He married Nancy L. Snyder on May 13,1977 and she preceded him in death on June 29, 2010.

Jerry is survived by his children and step children: Jay (Dinah) Collert of Friendship, Maryland, Cloyce Collert of Wauseon, Jacki Collert of Woodbridge, Virginia, Pam (Don Hartstock) Beery of Delaware, Ohio, Angie (Steve) Pulsifer of Tallahassee, Florida, Lon Beery of Rochester, New York, Mark Beery of Findlay, Ohio, Claudia Dexler of Schaumburg, Illinois, and Heather Berry of Oregon, a host of loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren and brothers: Jack (Nancy) Collert of Lima and George (Shirley) Collert of Aiken, South Carolina.

Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force where he was assigned to Loring AFB, ME, working on B-36s and B-52s; a fact he was always quick to point out! He was a member of the Findlay Moose Lodge #698 and Findlay Elks Lodge #75. He was a former member of the St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Findlay. Jerry was an avid golfer and bowler extraordinaire. He loved traveling in his RV all around the United States, and became an authority on campfires, which his daughter Jacki has inherited. He was an excellent woodworker and enjoyed traveling to Talladega to watch NASCAR races, something he did many times with Jay, Cloyce, Jacki.

A Private Memorial Gathering will be held in Jerry’s honor in the HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 201 Osborn Ave, Findlay, Ohio 45840. Inurnment will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery, where military honors will be rendered by the Hancock County Memorial Squad.  A celebration of his life will be held at a later time to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be gifted in Jerry’s honor to Bridge Hospice, 15100 Birchaven Ln., Findlay, Ohio 45840.
