Anthony Lee “Tony” Thiery, 58, passed away on November 18, 2021 at 3:05pm, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, after a brief illness. Tony was born on September 9, 1963 in Hartford City, IN., to Ralph and Loretta (Murphy) Thiery. Both parents survive in Lima.
Tony graduated from Shawnee High School, and played football for them. He kept in close contact and maintained friendships with many of his high school friends. He was lucky enough to have great friends and he truly enjoyed their company. He moved to Cincinnati, and lived with his close friends, Rob and Holly Kline and son Alex. Tony was a tremendously hard worker, with a strong work ethic, handed down from his dad, who taught Tony the value of hard work and perseverance. Tony’s attention to detail and hard work paid off when Marriott Properties in Florida named him “Employee of the Year,” after receiving the award for “Employee of the Month,” several times. He lived life to the fullest, and every day was lived like it was going to be his last, with no regrets. Tony was an avid reader, and he adored his nieces and nephews and loved to spend time with them. He said one time on the family’s annual trip to Disney World in Orlando, that it was “The happiest day of his life in the happiest place on earth!” While at 58, his life was too short, he sure lived the life he wanted to live and thoroughly enjoyed himself along the way.
His family was so proud of Tony and find comfort in the fact that many lives will be impacted by his decision to be an organ and tissue donor. He is survived by his parents, Ralph and Loretta, his sister; Theresa Thompson, and her children; Kelsey and Cortney of Poland, Ohio and Clifford and Kayla of Columbus; and his brother; Jeffrey Thiery; his son Justin of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Justin’s son Skyler of Columbus and Jenna and her husband Keagan Layman Lima, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins to cherish his memory.
A Celebration of Tony’s life will be held on Saturday, December 11th, 2021, at the BPOE 54, Lima Elks Lodge, 302 W. North St. Lima Ohio 45801 from 2-5pm. Please come and help support Tony’s family by sharing stories and memories of Tony. Because of his love for animals, the family requests that any donations be made to the Animal Rescue Organization of your choice. HANNEMAN-SIFERD FUNERAL HOME is truly honored to be taking care of the Thiery Family.
