Ardith “Ardie” Myers, 86, of Napoleon, Ohio and formerly of Liberty Center, Ohio passed away November 17, 2020. Ardith was born on January 31, 1934 in Defiance, Ohio to the late Victor and Frances (Lashuay) McCurdy. She eloped with James, her high school sweetheart in Monroe, Michigan on January 30, 1954 where they met another couple who stood witness to each other’s weddings and they all stayed in contact over the years
Ardie graduated from Liberty Center High School. She worked as a school bus driver for the Liberty Center Schools driving buses #15 and #7 for 32 years. She previously had worked at the Rossford Ordinance, Wauseon Wire Factory, for the Napoleon City Pool, and at McCully Egg factory before becoming a school bus driver. Ardie was a sports nut, playing softball when she was younger. She was a member of the Liberty Center Athletic Boosters and an avid Liberty Center Football fan. Ardie loved to go fishing, hunting, camping and bowled for many years in various leagues. She enjoyed gardening and traveling around the United States. Ardie also help deliver Meals on Wheels. She was a lifelong member of Wesleyan Church in Liberty Center and served as the Sunday School Treasurer. Ardie was involved with her children’s activities and continued the tradition with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who affectionately knew her as “Oma” Her absence will be greatly felt.
Ardie is survived by her husband of 66 years James; daughter: Lynn (Vernon) Oberhaus; sons: Craig (Sherry) Myers, Doug (Ulrike “Sue”) Myers; grandchildren: 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Ardie was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Jeffery, sister Mary Goldsmith and infant sister Alva McCurdy.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
Memorial Contributions in Ardie’s honor may be gifted to the Wesleyan Church, Liberty Center Athletic Boosters, Relay for Life – Circle of Friends, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
