Betty A. Bartels, age 98 of Liberty Center, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Genacross Nursing Home in Napoleon, Ohio on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. Betty was born on April 23, 1923, the daughter of the late Earl and Dorcas Robinson. She married Robert Bartels and he proceeded her in death.
Betty is survived by daughter Debra (Dan) Hefflinger; son: Gary (Patricia) Bartels; daughter-law Lisa Bartels; grandchildren: Chad, Lance, Chris, Shawn, and Allyson; great grandchildren: Todd, Derek, Bryan, Nolan, Ella, Cora, Evie, Beau, and Christian. Betty was blessed with twin great, great grandsons Jackson & Patrick. She was preceded in death by her son Terry and granddaughter Dana.
Betty was a hard worker, starting out cleaning houses, glassblowing at Libby-Owens Ford, and worked several factory jobs. She also ran several businesses including Bartels’s Cafe (twice), Bartels Electric, and in later years, the Colonel Manor trailer park and apartments. Her love for flowers and gardening would span for many years. She received many awards, including “Gardener of the year in Region 1” and “Best of show” in Henry Co Fair. She was also very active In the DerBlume Garden Club. Grandma “B” as she was so loving called, always had a smile for All and will be very missed.
As God gives us new beginnings of his love, “A Celebration of Life” Service and Sharing of Memories for Betty Bartels will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the Hanneman Funeral Home, 24084 W. Second Street, Grand Rapids, Ohio 43522. A Memorial Gathering and funeral luncheon will follow the Celebration of Life Service until 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
