Betty J. Fritz, 92, of Findlay, Ohio passed away April 27, 2024 at Primrose Retirement Community with her family at her side. She was born March 16, 1932 in Jasper, Indiana to the late Edwin and Margaret (Reckelhoff) Heeke. She married Don E. Fritz on May 1, 1952 and he preceded her in death on August 3, 2019 after 67 years of marriage.
In 1957, Betty and Don, along with his parents, moved to Findlay and opened the Western Auto Store that later became the Bike Emporium. Betty was a homemaker, involved in the business with Don and his parents, and also worked as a team leader at McDonald's.
Betty enjoyed many family trips to her hometown in Indiana, and vacations to Florida and Mackinac Island. She loved spending time with her family, sitting on her back porch, reading, challenging puzzles and word searches, and the annual Memorial Day parade that passed by her home. While at Primrose, she enjoyed friendship with her dining mates and caring staff, rosary at the chapel and watching the Cleveland Guardians baseball games.
Betty attended St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. She was a member of the Leo Councellettes and assisted with funeral lunches at the Knights of Columbus for many years.
She is survived by her children, Mike Fritz (Ann), Pam Leichty, and Suzan Eckert (Allen); grandchildren Casey Leichty (Megan), Corey Leichty (Andrea), Kari Jackson (Evan), Haley Kersting (Eric) and Curtis Eckert (Lauren); great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Josiah, Dean, Talon, Beckett, Lennox, Caroline, Leah, Fritz, Wells, Noah, Sawyer and Jackson. She is survived by sister Rosemary Wigand and preceded in death by sister Dorothy Korff and brothers-in-law Louie Korff and Linus Wigand.
The family would like to thank the staff at Primrose and Bridge Hospice for the care of their mother.
Visitation will be Friday, May 3, 2024 from 8:30-10 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Downtown Chapel, 617 W Main Cross Street, Findlay, Ohio, 45840 with funeral mass to follow. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Findlay.
