Betty Lashley Obituary

Obituary for Betty A. Lashley (Dieball)

With deep sorrow and love, we announce the passing of Betty A. Lashley (Dieball), also known as "Betty Boop" who left this world on July 9, 2025, at the age of 80.

Born on January 1, 1945, in Toledo, Ohio, Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother, and best friend. She was the heart of her family - a steady, loving presence known for her kind smile and warm laughter that could brighten any room.

Betty was a creative spirit who enjoyed drawing, painting, and crocheting. She was also known for making "The best potato salad in the whole wide world" and the greatest cakes ever - a talent that made every celebration more special. Her thoughtfulness, sense of humor, and generous heart drew people to her. Even when she worked in collections, she would scold you for being late on your payment and then bake you a batch of cookies!

Betty graduated from Macomber/Whitney High School in 1963, She worked in retail for many years and also tended bar and hosted at several local establishments. Later, she joined The Hilton Hotel, where she began in night auditing and moved into accounting, eventually retiring from the company. Betty later took on a part-time role in collections with J & R Contracting, retiring again in 2020.

Betty lived with remarkable strength and grace. She managed diabetes for over 20 years, began dialysis after developing kidney disease, and later faced cancer with quiet courage. Through it all, she remained strong, loving, and full of wit and "nervous" humor.

She is finally at peace, free from pain, and held in the arms of those who went before her.

She is survived by her daughter, Nikki Mattoni; her grandchildren, Deanna Mattoni and Andrea Mattoni (Jacob); her cousin, Robbie (Rick) Matheny, and many 1st through 5th cousins. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Lucile Dieball, and her brother, Howard Dieball.

No formal service will be held.
