Bonnie L. Poe-Eddingfield, 96, of Lima, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at 7:30 pm at The Springs of Lima, and now resides in Heaven with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Bonnie was born on August 10, 1926, in Frankfort, IN., to Reldo R. and Effie I. (Singleton) McKinzie. She was the last survivor of a family of 15 children, but only 13 of them grew to adulthood.
On August 2, 1942, she married David “Frank” Poe, and moved with him to Lima, Ohio. Frank passed away on January 11, 1996. They had 5 children: Dondalene “Dondi” (Clayton) Macklin, of Lima; David L. “Dave” Poe, of Spencerville; Carolyn “Susie” (Joe) Kleinknecht, of Galion; and Betsy (Bill) Jackson of Mocksville, NC. She was preceded in death by one son; Dennis F. “Denny” Poe. She has 7 grandchildren: David Poe, Mark Poe, Douglas Line, Dondi Hoverland, Chad Poe, Amanda James, and Sarah Bunton, as well as many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
After all her children were of school age, Bonnie worked outside the home at Frisch’s Big Boy, St. Rita’s Hospital, Cleman’s Bakery, the Pepsi Cola Plant, and Montgomery Wards Furniture Department. She was an active member of Lima Baptist Temple and could always be counted on to help in Sunday School, VBS, the Nursery, with funeral dinners, visitation of shut-ins, and missionary support.
Her family was happy for her, when on January 31, 2003, she married Francis “Eddie” Eddingfield. He passed away on January 19, 2019 and they enjoyed nearly 16 years together. Bonnie very much enjoyed attending church services and activities, Bible reading, travel, serving others, music, and children, but her active lifestyle was reduced in the last 4 years or so due to the onset of Alzheimer’s Disease.
