Catharine “Cat” Coleman age 82, went home to be with the Lord on April 1st, 2025 at 9:10 pm at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home.
Catharine was born to the union of Albert and Luretha Coleman on January 12, 1943 in Belzoni Mississippi.
She was a lifelong member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. She was a faithful member of the choir for many years and enjoyed helping in any capacity that she could. She also was a member of Interfaith Community Choir, Gospel Harmonettes, and The Latson Singers.
She enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, baking cookies and telling them stories. She loved to spend quality time with her sister Annie and sister-in-law Ann. They were affectionately known as the “Golden Girls”. She also cared deeply for her nieces and nephews, “Auntie Cat” kept everyone in line.
Over the years, Cat was a caregiver and a cook, retiring from Shawnee Manor after 15 years. She loved working with others and helped care for at risk youth at Safe Harbor.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son Michael Coleman and daughter Andrea “Nisey” (Mendiz) Thompson all of Lima. As well as four grandchildren Shamir Thompson, Morgan Thompson, De’ Maria Thompson and Makaiah Coleman.
Four Brothers W.G. (Sue) Coleman of Zion Il., Samuel “Sam” (Melody) Coleman of Columbus OH, Henry (Rhonda) Coleman of Elizabethtown KY, and Terry Coleman of Medellin, Columbia.
Two Sisters Annie Ruth (Willie) Johnson and Mary Coleman, as well as a sister-in-law Shirley “Ann” Coleman, all of Lima, Ohio.
She was proceeded in death by her grandparents Jane and Gus Nevels and her parents Albert and Luretha Coleman. Six siblings Irma Lee, Johnnie B. Coleman, Albert “AC” Coleman, Willie B. Coleman and David “Jack” Minnifield, and sister-in-law Ann Minnifield.
Funeral visitation and services will be on Thursday, April 10th, 2025 at New Hope Missionary Baptist 328 E 4th St. Lima, OH 45804. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until time of the service starting at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery with a dinner following after located at the church.
