Cecylia (Kopyś) Chlosta, 98, passed away peacefully at the St. Francis Home in Tiffin, Ohio on Saturday October 4th, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Cecylia was born on November 13, 1926, to John and Maria Kopyś in Chybice Poland. She was predeceased by her siblings, Tadek, Hannia, Julia, Otola and Regina. She immigrated to Canada in 1960 and then to the United States of America in 1962. Cecylia married Stanislaw Chlosta on July 25, 1964. They had one stepdaughter, Madeline Murray, and two children Lucy (Donald) Munro and Craig (Angie) Chlosta. Cecylia had five loving grandchildren: Christopher, Ronald, Alexander, Abigail, and Stasz and four great grandchildren: Stanley, Chloe, Tristan and Zigmund. Cecylia obtained citizenship of the United States of America in 1975, this was one of her proudest achievements.
Cecylia dedicated her life to the Lord. She was a part of St. Casimir Parish in Fremont Ohio in which she was a member of the choir and Rosary Altar Society. Cecylia enjoyed helping with events within the parish such as golembki dinners, picnics, Father's Day breakfasts, and Christmas celebrations. She also honored The Blessed Virgin Mary by ensuring she always had fresh flowers at Mary's grotto at St. Casimir and making sure it was clean. Once St. Casimir closed, she became a member of St. Joseph parish in Fremont. Cecylia enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and sharing her Polish traditions and heritage with them. In her free time Cecylia could be found tending to her large vegetable or flower gardens, cooking Polish cuisine, or quilting. She was a big fan of The Price is Right and made sure to be inside daily at 11:00 to watch. Cecylia spent any free moment she had in prayer.
Cecylia is preceded in death by her parents, siblings and husband.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at Hanneman-Keller Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont, OH. Rosary will start at 6:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fremont. Cecylia will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery.
