Charles E. Ray Sr. transitioned from this earthly life on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center.
Charles was born in Lima, Ohio on November 3, 1953 and moved to Lorain, Ohio, where he had been a long -time resident. He was a graduate of Bath High School, and of Rhodes State College. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Lorain, and worked the line. He was a fan of the Cleveland Browns, and the University of Michigan Wolverines.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children; Michelle Ray of Lorain, Sons; Derrick Ray of Lorain, Charles Ray Jr. of Columbus, Arnold (Rachel) Yancey, of Lorain, and also 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He also has a sister; Doris Shears, of Columbus, and a brother; Ronnie Ray of California, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; William Ray, and Dorothy (Jennings) Ray-Stamper, and his step-father Samuel Stamper, and his brother; William Ray Jr. Charles will be truly missed, especially his smile and laugh. He will always be remembered and cherished.
The family will receive friends from 11 am -12 noon on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Cornerstone Church, 2000 N. Cole St Lima Ohio 45801, with a service to start at 12 noon, at Cornerstone Church, officiated by Pastor Janet Wend. Memorial Contributions may be given in Charles’s name to the American Heart Association, or The Lima Rescue Mission, to help the homeless.
