Christopher Blake Obituary

Christopher Lee Blake

Christopher “Chris” Lee Blake, 50 years old of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family following a two year battle with cancer. Chris was born on November 4, 1975, in Bowling Green, Ohio. Growing up, Chris loved playing sports. Chris was a 1995 graduate of Bowling Green High School. After High School Chris went on to graduate from Owens Community College.  Chris worked at Pioneer Seed, Schwind Electric, then Northwest Water and Sewer District where he worked for over 20 years.

Chris was a man of few words with a kind heart, loyal to family and friends. Chris enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, and playing hockey.  Chris played in the Loomis Hockey old man’s league at the Slater Family Ice Arena. He enjoyed watching BGSU, Bobcats, Walleye, and Toronto Maple Leaf’s Hockey.  Chris loved wearing gear to represent his favorite teams, including the Elmwood Lady Royals.  Chris absolutely loved watching his daughters play golf and softball for Lady Royals. Chris was exceptionally proud of his daughters and their success in 4-H raising market chickens.

Chris could fix anything. He was a craftsman with many skills and a creative eye. He created many signs, light fixtures, and shutters using pallets and barnwood.  During his battle with cancer, he started creating artwork using sea glass that he collected over the years. He called his collection, Cancer’s for the Birds.

Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents Richard and Helen (Marsh) Cramer, Bowling Green, and Forrest Sr. and Ester (Schroeder) Blake, North Baltimore.  Chris is survived by his wife of almost 23 years, Angelia “Angie” (Green) and his daughters, Delaney and Natalie Blake; his parents, Forrest Jr. and Marsha (Cramer) Blake of Bowling Green; his siblings, Scott (Erica) Blake of Toledo, Erik (Kate) Blake of Swanton, Randolph (Abby) Blake of Norwalk, and Patrick (Katie) Blake of Sylvania; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 4, at 11:00 am, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Bowling Green, with visitation from 10:00am-11:00am.  The funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Robin Small.
