Clara E. Gibbs, 93, of Findlay, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, at Taylor Place Assisted Living, in Findlay, Ohio. She was born on March 16, 1931, in Findlay, to the late Charles and Elizabeth (Bartchlett) Finerd. She married Ralph Grunden, and they later divorced. She married the love of her life, Donald Gibbs, on May 1, 1976, and he preceded her in death on August 12, 2021, after 45 wonderful years together.
Clara is survived by her children: Bonnie (Tom) Johnson, Dori (Jim) Bishop, Mike (Connie) Grunden, and John Grunden; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Vera (Andrew - deceased) Sterling. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Gladys (John) Ricksecker, Rachel (Charles) Carmen, Dorothy (Theron) Cole, Bonnie (Orrville) Frantz, Carl (Gwen) Finerd, Nelly (Merle) Ireland, Ralph (Clarabelle) Finerd, Ruth (Virgil) Magarity, Robert (Patricia) Finerd, Charles (Janice) Finerd, Jaunita (Rusty) Garrick; and a grandson, Bryan Grunden.
Clara worked for RCA, Ball Metal, Butcher Real Estate, and was an accomplished artist. She specialized in oil paintings featuring landscapes, lighthouses and ships. Clara also enjoyed a wide range of crafts and working with ceramics. She was known to have a great sense of humor and her contagious, rolling-in-tears laughter, and was a great hostess. She enjoyed square dancing with her husband, Don, and traveling across the country doing so. She had a great love for animals, is now reunited with her beloved dog, Sparky.
At Clara's request, there will be no visitation or services at this time. A graveside service will be held later this spring at Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay. Hanneman Funeral Home, 201 Osborn Avenue, Findlay, have been graciously entrusted with her care.
