Claribel (Wasserman) Decker

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Claribel Decker, a beloved wife, mother, and community member. Born in Fremont, Ohio to Aloysius and Clara (Buchman) Wasserman on January 24, 1927, Claribel passed away peacefully on August 20, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family. She was a loving homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for her family.

Claribel graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1945 and later attended Warner's Beauty College. She married her beloved husband, Glen Decker, on November 8, 1947, and together they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. 
She belonged to Confraternity of Blessed Sacrament Division 8, a member of the Sympathy Choir, member of Sacred Heart Church and volunteered for Heartbeat for many years.

She is survived by her loving children; Steven (Joy) Decker, Scott (Peg) Decker, Elaine Roosen, Robert (Connie) Decker, Patty (Tim) Leemaster, Joanie (Greg) Kindred, Lee (Beth) Decker and Linda (Marc) Freed, 33 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild.

Claribel was preceded in death by: her husband, parents, daughter; Arlene Brenamen, brothers; Ervin, Edward, Harold, LeRoy, and Lamar Wasserman, sister; Evelyn Smith, son-in-law; Marc Roosen, sister-in-law; Pam Wasserman.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart Church or Sandusky County Humane Society. Visitation will be held on Sunday August 25, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hanneman-Keller Funeral Home 416 South Arch Street, Fremont Ohio. Funeral Services will be held on Monday August 26, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Road, Fremont, Ohio 43420, at 11:30 am following a short visitation at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Funeral Mass will be live streamed by Sacred Heart Church at www.sacredheart-fremont.org. 

Claribel was a lover of all animals and bugs!
