Cleora Chapin Obituary

With grateful hearts and deep love, we celebrate the life of Cleora June Chapin (Harding), who was welcomed into the arms of her Savior at the age of 99 on February 21, 2026 at 1:30 a.m. in the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Born on June 13, 1926 at 1:30 a.m. at home in Tiffin, Ohio, June lived nearly a century rooted in faith, family, and steadfast love. A devoted follower of Christ, she carried her trust in the Lord through every season of life. Her favorite scripture, Ephesians 2:8 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is a gift of God-" guided her daily walk and reflected the quiet strength and grace she embodied.

June was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Fremont and later in life, First United Presbyterian Church of Pemberville, where she led, served, worshiped and formed cherished friendships for many years.
She was also a member of, or served, her local DAR, Mayflower Society, Colonial Dames of 17th Century, Red Hat Society, Beta Sigma Phi, Easter Seals, Care & Share, voter precinct, Wally Byam Caravan Club of Airstreams, and Sandusky Sailing Club.

June was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend of many. Her family was her greatest earthly treasure.

She leaves behind her children; Sandra Lynn (Glenn) Smith, Carole (Dan) Cobb, Anita (Michael) Schaible, and Keith (Monica) Chapin, grandchildren; Ashley Rose (Jason) Kaylor, Glenn Victor (Melissa) Smith III, Melanie (Nick) Cox, Ryan Cobb, Anna (Sam) Moody, Eric (Paige) Schaible, Lucas (Sommer) Schaible, Kevin (Melanie McDaniels) Chapin, Kara (Evan) Uchtman, and Kyle (Lissette) Chapin, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, a sister-in-law, nieces and a nephew, cousins, and friends, who will forever treasure her wisdom, gentle spirit, and unwavering prayers.

June was preceded in death by husbands; George Chapin, Harold Struble, and Melvin Newell, daughter Susan Marie Hoy, son-in-law Delbert Hoy, brother Richard Harding, sister Eugenia Harding, parents Irvin and Marian (Metzger) Harding, Ruth Harding, Mildred Harding, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Those who knew her will remember her warm smile, her kind hands, and her remarkable resilience through nearly a century of change. She lived through historic moments, from the days of the Great Depression to the modern age, yet remained constant in her faith and hopeful in spirit.

Though we grieve her passing, we rejoice in God's promise of eternal life.

A showing at 9:00 a.m. with a service celebrating her life at 10:00 a.m. will be held at Hanneman-Keller Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch St, Fremont, OH on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Following will be a burial at Maple Grove Cemetery, 1120 W. Main St, Findlay, OH.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: DAR Col. George Croghan Chapter, Fremont, OH.
