Dale Schellenberg

Dale Schellenberg, 76, of McComb passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loving family.

Dale was born on August 23, 1943 and was raised by the late Aldine and Arnetta (Wilson) Schellenberg. He married the love of his life Mary Dingledine on September 8, 1962, in Ottawa, Ohio and she survives in McComb. Also surviving are his children: Jeff (Rhonda) Schellenberg of McComb, Tami (Jay) Robinson of Jupiter, Florida and Sondra (Matthew) Barnes of Edgewood, Washington; grandchildren: Tabitha, Stevie, Brittany, Zachary and Ethan; great-grandchildren: Caleb, Madelyn, Josie, Jett and Andi; siblings: Richard Schellenberg, Patty Corteau and Rosie Todd and an aunt Shirley Hazelton. He was preceded in death by his sibling Marty, John and Kenny, Bonnie and Ethel.

Dale was the owner and operator of the former Marathon Gas Station in McComb and for nine years served as the Village Administrator in McComb. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Army. Dale along with Fritz Meyer were instrumental in moving the VFW Post 9231 to its present location in McComb. He also served as the Canteen Manager for the VFW. Dale enjoyed racing and working on cars. He loved woodworking and operating J & D Machine Shop, with his son Jeff.

Visitation for Dale will be on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 from 3:00-7:00 PM in the Hanneman Funeral Home, 370 Park Dr S., McComb, Ohio 45858. Dale’s Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the McComb Union Cemetery, where Military honors will be rendered by the Hancock County Memorial Squad.
