David Cole

David R. Cole, 71, passed away Sunday June 5 at the Hospice Care Center of Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center.  The last year and a half have seen many health challenges for Dave, but throughout most of it he maintained his sense of humor and fought everything that was thrown at him.

Dave was born Sept. 28, 1950 in Bluffton to Robert L. and Mary (Payne) Cole, both deceased.   Dave graduated from Bluffton High School in 1969 and briefly attended Ohio Northern University.  In 1971, he married Christine Robison and they had two daughters before divorcing in 1982.  On Oct. 6,1990 he married Anne (Baumlein) Cole and she survives in Findlay.  Dave is also survived by his three daughters: Heather (James) Branch of Glen St. Mary, Florida; Holly (Danny) Knight of Glen St. Mary, Florida and McKenna (Sage) Flores of Findlay; 5 grandchildren: Ashley (Mark) Willis, Donavon and Clark Bryant; Emma and Cole Knight, all of Florida; four great-grandchildren; two siblings, Diane (Don) Courtright of McComb and Nancy Cole of Findlay; 8 nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Darlene Baumlein, of Findlay; sister-in-law Linette (Dan) Kemner of Pemberville, OH; and brother-in-law Alan (Tina) Baumlein of Maineville, Ohio.

Dave was employed by Whirlpool for 40 years, retiring in 2011.  He then worked part-time for Jeffrey's Antiques and Jaqua's Fine Guns, until ill health sidelined him.  Dave loved spending time with friends over a cold beer at the WestEnd Tavern; fishing with his buddies on Lake Erie; relaxing at his lake house on Catawba Island and vacationing with his family in Gatlinburg and Nashville, Tennessee; Gulf Shores, AL; Savannah, GA; Key West and Destin, Florida.  He was a long-time member of the Findlay Moose Lodge.  He attended Cedar Creek Church in Findlay.

A Memorial Gathering in David’s honor will be on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 from 3:00-7:00 PM in the Hanneman Funeral Home, 201 Osborn Ave., Findlay, Ohio 45840.  David’s Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, where additional visitation will begin at 10AM, his brother-in-law Pastor Alan Baumlein, officiating.
