David Gerald Hersey

David “Dave” Gerald Hersey, 66, of Lima, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024 at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born on April 5, 1958, the son of Fred and Helen (Gerrity) Hersey. Both parents preceded him in death.

Dave was a salesman for Palmer-Donavin for many years, and won “Salesman of the Year”. He was very proud of his work ethic and salesmanship and had the “gift of gab”. He was a kind soul who knew no strangers. He was an excellent guitarist, and played with several area bands over many years. He enjoyed airplanes, traveling and he knew every backroad there was. His girls knew they could call if they were lost and he’d get them where they needed to be. The thing he cherished the most was time spent with his family: His girls; Brooke Traxler, and Amanda Hersey; his grandson; Zack Gottschalk and his many nieces and nephews. He truly treasured being “Papaw” to Zack. Dave was previously married to Ann Entinghe Hersey for 29 years. Dave was preceded in death by his brother; Andrew Hersey, and his niece and nephew Kara Hersey and Kevin Hersey.

Friends may call at HANNEMAN-SIFERD FUNERAL HOME, 506 N. Cable Rd., Lima Ohio 45805 on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 from 6-8 pm. On Thursday, April 25, 2024, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am , at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 240 W. Robb Ave Lima Ohio 45801, celebrant will be Fr. Mike Sergi. Burial will follow Mass at Gethsemani Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for placement in Zack’s 529 Education Fund which was started by Dave for Zack’s benefit.
