Diane Lynn Newland

Diane Lynn Newland, 79, of Lima, passed away on December 3, 2024 at 3pm, at her residence. She was born on June 28, 1945 in Lima, to Edward K. Newland Sr. and Nina E.(Klingler) Newland. Her parents preceded her in death.

Diane started her work life as a reporter for the Lima Citizen and Lima Star, and later, was hired at Westinghouse/Sunstrand, from where she retired when they closed. She loved to take vacations with her mother, Nina, and they had a wonderful time, going to New York, LA, and Hollywood. She met many celebrities, and often told her nieces and nephews stories about them. She was the “cool aunt” who took them to drive in theaters, with a grocery bag full of homemade popcorn. She even took some of them with her on her trips and the experiences they had in these cities were priceless. She also loved  flowers, gardening, growing fruit and vegetables, canning and loved to spend time in her back yard. Diane enjoyed going to county fairs with friends. She loved all animals, no stray ever went unadopted, and her cats and dogs were truly spoiled, like children. She was a very determined lady, she knew what she wanted, and with her quiet but strong resolve, usually got what she wanted.

Aunt “Diney,” as she was affectionately called by her nieces and nephews, is survived, by her nieces; Deb Parker, Michele Marshall, Lana (John) Lowry, and Beth (Randy) Ridenour: her nephew; Mark (Kelly) Newland. And a host of great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Edward “Buddy” Newland Jr., and Don Newland: Sisters-in-law; Martha Fett, Patricia Shenk; and Nephews; Don “Donnie” Newland, Jan Newland , and Greg Newland, and a Niece; Jamie Newland.

Friends may call at HANNEMAN-SIFERD FUNERAL HOME, 506 N Cable Rd., Lima OH 45805 on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 1PM to 3PM with a service to be held at 3pm, officiated by Pastor Charles Feurstanau. Interment of Diane’s cremated remains will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorial Contributions may be made to Interim Health Hospice in her memory.
