Donald Ochs

Donald Ochs, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on February 26, 2024, at his home in Fremont, Ohio. He was born on February 23, 1939, in Fremont to Wilfred and Agnes (Nieset) Ochs. Donald's commitment to his family was unwavering and defined his existence.

Donald graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1958. Donald's warm smile and compassionate nature will be remembered by his family and friends. On April 8,1961, Donald married the love of his life, Leah Hawk, in Angola, IN.

He was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Church. Don worked as a supervisor at Whirlpool Corp. for 31 years. In his free time Don enjoyed woodworking, gardening, but mostly, gatherings with his family.

Surviving to cherish his memory: wife, Leah Ochs; daughters, Tamara (Scott) Miller, Jacqueline (Brad Wiltse) Combs, and Jennifer (Timothy) Meggitt; brothers, Eugene Ochs and Robert (Kathy) Ochs; grandchildren, Jessica (Aric) Rosenberger, Amanda (Jacob) Crispen, Jacob Combs, Alexandra (Jeff) Mapus, Olivia (Mark) Maloney, Trevor Meade, Victoria (Kyle Croucher) Miller, and Jared Combs as well as 10 great grandchildren.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; twin sons, Michael and Mark Ochs; brothers Frank Ochs and James Ochs; Sister-in-laws, Fayanne Ochs and Sally Ochs, and Son-in-law Jim Combs.

The memories of Donald's kindness and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known him. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Donald’s family would like to thank Elara Caring Hospice, Elmwood Nursing Facility, and the nursing staff at Memorial Hospital for taking such great care of him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart Church. Visitation will be held on Monday March 4, 2024 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Hanneman-Keller Funeral Home 416 South Arch Street, Fremont, OH. Vigil will follow visiting hours at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 550 Smith Road Fremont, Ohio 43420, on Tuesday March 5, 2024 at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Fremont, OH.
