Dorothy Alice (Ackerman) Wheeler

Dorothy Alice Wheeler, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, at the age of 97. Born on November 3, 1927, in Fremont, Ohio, Dorothy lived a life full of warmth and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her.

A proud graduate of Fremont Ross High School, class of 1946, Dorothy dedicated many years to nurturing the minds of young people as a cafeteria worker for Fremont City Schools. Her infectious smile and caring nature made every meal a little brighter for the students who had the pleasure of being served by her.

Dorothy was an avid crocheter, often creating intricate pieces that showcased her creativity and dedication. She found joy in reading, diving into the pages of countless books, and she loved to expand her collection of Precious Moments figurines, each piece a reminder of cherished memories and special occasions.

A devoted member of Grace Lutheran Church, Dorothy's steadfast faith guided her throughout her life, providing comfort and strength as she navigated both joys and challenges.

Dorothy is survived by her loving daughter, Charlene (Robert) Hernandez, and her son, Steven (Cherie) Wheeler, who will forever treasure the love and wisdom she imparted to them. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Jay, Eric, Michael, Tabitha, and Abigail, great-grandchildren; Dominic, Jennifer, Madison, Logan, Camden, Miranda, Britney, Emma and Oliver and great-great-grandchildren; Carter and Logan. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, generosity, and the importance of family.

Dorothy was preceded in death by husband; Frank Wheeler, parents; Jacob and Anna Ackerman, son; Ronald Wheeler, granddaughter; Shanda Wheeler, and brothers; Lloyd Boyer, Kenneth Ackerman, Donald Ackerman and Howard Ackerman.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Valley View Care Center Memory Care Unit. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 10:00 am until the time of her funeral service at 12:00 pm at Hanneman-Keller Funeral Home 416 South Arch Street, Fremont Ohio. Burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont, OH.
