Elaine Bigsby Obituary

Elaine "Kay" Bigsby, 82, beloved Mother, Spouse, Stepmother, Sister, and Daughter, was called home on May 7, 2025. She entered this world on August 4, 1942, in Peoria, IL, born to William and Martha (Heacock) Karrick. She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Michael) Ott; Stepson Charles (Marcie) Bigsby Jr.; sister Dorothy A. (David) Armstrong; sister Eleanor M. (the late Jim) Nelson; sister Nancy E. (John) Umbeck; brother Cleve P. (the late Cathy) Karrick; Raymond K. (Edna) Karrick; sister-in-law Gayla Karrick and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, William Karrick (Father), Martha Karrick (Mother), Betty L. (Richard) Lehne (Sister), Doris M. (Bob) Newtson (Sister), Martha Jeanie (Jean) Dawson (Sister), Vickie O. (Richard) Pasaleri (Sister), Daniel A. Karrick (Brother), Jerald L. Karrick (Brother), Steve V. Karrick (Brother) and William (Cora) Karrick Jr. (Brother).
Elaine graduated from Williamsfield High School and later married Charles Daniel Bigsby on September 2, 1972, at the Bethel Baptist Parsonage in Galesburg, IL. and they were married for close to 39 years. Together they owned the Liquidation Barn Office Furniture store in Asheville, NC for many years. During their time together, she and Charlie enjoyed playing cards and Yahtzee, attending Nascar races, attending college ball games and traveling. She also enjoyed her flowers and feeding the birds. Elaine loved her family and enjoyed keeping up with all her sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews. She always had a special way of making her friends and neighbors feel like family.
A private memorial service will be held in June.
