George P. Haslinger, 74, of Maumee passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at the Lakes of Monclova surrounded by his loving family.
George was born on September 9, 1947 in Fremont, Ohio to the late Paul and Jane (Ochs) Haslinger. He met his future wife Dianne Houser during a badminton class at University of Toledo. They were married on June 11, 1971 in Gesu Catholic Church in Toledo and recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. George is survived by Dianne in Maumee. Also surviving is his daughter Jennifer Haslinger of Maumee and Paul (Lorie) Haslinger of Toledo; grandchildren: Joey and George Haslinger and siblings: Jude (Rhonda) Haslinger of Hamilton, Ohio and Marita (Patrick) Hick of Fremont, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his brother Fr. Philip S. Haslinger, M.R.E, M-Div.
George received his Bachelor’s in Education from the University of Toledo and attended St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, IN on a basketball scholarship. George had owned and operated his own floor covering business for forty years. He was a tireless worker and perfected his craft over the years. He could build anything from just one look at a design. He was an animal lover and enjoyed feeding squirrels, birds, and deer.
George had a witty and funny personality, who always greeted everyone with a smile. When George went into the Lakes of Monclova fourteen months ago he would always go room to room and greet everyone and make sure everyone was doing alright. His compassion is something that everyone, especially at the Lakes of Monclova will deeply miss. Most of all, George loved his family and cherished every moment he got to spend with them, especially his grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
