Gladys Artz

Gladys Artz passed away on April 18, 2022 at Fremont Memorial Hospital surrounded by her children. She was born on June 18, 1939 in Bluefield, West Virginia to the late Earl and Alice (Blankenship) Ferrell. 

At a young age Gladys moved to Ohio with her 2 young children to start fresh. She married Edgar Artz Sr. in 1963, and he preceded her in death. Gladys never met a stranger and was always willing to help a friend in need when she could. She was a hardworking homemaker her entire life. Gladys was as avid quilter and loved making baby blankets and quilts for family, friends, and acquaintances. Another passion of Gladys’ was her garden. She loved her garden and was gifted at canning and preserving everything she grew.  She spent many hours in her kitchen teaching her children her techniques and eventually her grandchildren.

Gladys is survived by her children: Danny (Bernadine) Ferrell of Fremont, Janice Yvonne Young of Fostoria, Diane Forsgren of Clarksville, Tennessee, Carol (H Steven) Timmons of Fremont and Ed (Roberta) Artz Jr of Fremont; 26 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Ray Ferrell, Clemmie Rucker, Alex Ferrell, Raymond Ferrell, Ray Ferrell, James Ferrell, Jay Ferrell and Pearl Blankenship; Son in law Randy Young Sr.; great granddaughters Katelyn Renee Funk of Tiffin OH and Hayleigh Lynn Cork of Clarksville TN.

A Memorial Gathering will be held in Glady's honor on Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 PM in the Hanneman-Chudzinski-Keller Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch St., Fremont, Ohio 43420.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gladys' honor to her family c/o funeral home or can be made through the funeral home website.
