Glenn W. Brooks, 91, of Attica, Ohio passed away April 27, 2022. Glenn was born on January 8, 1931 to the late William C. and Mina B. (Reichert) Brooks in Siam, Ohio. He married Mary Carolyn Kerr on August 15, 1959, and she preceded him in death on October 31, 2019.
Glenn is survived by his sons: Glenn (Linda) Brooks Jr., Gregory Brooks, Jeffrey (Denise) Brooks; 6 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Carolyn, daughter Candy, and sisters Marilyn Ginter and Helen Alford.
Glenn graduated from Attica High School in 1949, and he graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Heidelberg University in 1953 and his master’s degree in education from BGSU in 1958. Glenn proudly served his country in the US Army from 1953-1955. Glenn was a teacher and elementary principal for the Attica/Seneca East Schools along with being an administrator for the Seneca County Schools from 1955-1983. He retired from teaching in 1983 with over 30 years of educating students. Glenn was the head basketball coach from 1959-1978 with a record of 266-167 and was inducted in the OHSAA Hall of Fame. He also coached cross country and track as well as teaching driver’s ed. Glenn worked for Clay Distributing/Beck Supplier from 1984-2004. He was the first commissioner of the Midland Athletic League from 1985-1993. Glenn was a Past President of the Masonic Lodge in Attica, becoming a member in 1953 where he also served as the District President of the Masonic Lodge. He also became a member of the Eastern Stars in 1958.
A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2022 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the Hanneman Funeral Home, 295 W. Tiffin Street, Attica where Military Honors will be rendered at 12:00 PM and Masonic Services will be held at 1:30 PM at the funeral home.
Memorial Contributions in Glenn’s honor may be gifted to the Seneca East Public Library or Heartland Hospice.
