Glenn Shoemaker Obituary

Glenn Ronald Shoemaker, 84, of Ballville Township, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2021.

Glenn better known as Ron to many was born in Fremont, Ohio on April 26, 1936 to the late Glenn and Helene (Batsole) Shoemaker. He married his High School sweetheart Donna Drown on June 16, 1956 and she survives after nearly 65 years of marriage. Ron is also survived by his children: Kim (Ron Autullo) Meek of Fremont, Kris Shoemaker of Bluffton, Kelly (Steve) Marks of Chang Rai, Thailand, Kraig (Kristina) Shoemaker of Columbus; grandchildren: Dawn (Matt) Hedrick, Michael (Ashley) Meek , Joshua Shoemaker, Jacob (Aubree) Shoemaker , Christopher (Emily) Marks, Keith (Taylor) Marks, David Marks, Anna Marks, Joe Marks, Stacy (Nic) Smith, Denton Shoemaker and Kristen Shoemaker; 10 great grandchildren and a nephew Rick (Leeann) Evans. He was preceded in death by his sister: Nancy Evans and a son-in-law Brian Meek.

Ron was a graduate of Fremont Ross High School and was a member of the Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church. Ron was also a member of the Brainard Lodge F & AM #336 and the Eagles # 712 both of Fremont. Ron was an avid sportsman, he loved spending time on the water, whether it was out fishing or boating with his family.  He was an avid Cleveland Browns, Indians and the Ohio State Buckeyes fan. For nearly 16 years, he was in attendance for every home opener for the Cleveland Indians. Ron was all about Ballville Township, when anyone asked where Ron was from, he always said “I’m from Ballville Ohio”. He served on the Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years and also served as past President and Treasurer.  Ron was also most recently a member of the Ballville Township Zoning Board.  Most of all, Ron loved his family. He cherished the time he spent with them whether it was traveling to a place where he could put his feet in the sand and enjoy a good cocktail or go to a sporting event, or just having them over for the annual Ohio State Michigan game. Ron will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
