Grace Leader

Grace Evelyn Leader passed away, January 17, 2022 at The Heritage. Grace was born January 15, 1933, to Orla and Nellie Newell. She married Eugene Leader on August 11, 1951, and he preceded her in death.

Grace is survived by four children, Kathy (Dave) Lewis, Redlands, CA; Don (Ann) of Bluffton; Duane (Dana) of Findlay; David (Becky) of Ottawa. She has thirteen grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Naomi Snavely of Maryville, TN. Preceding her in death were a son-in-law David Wendeln, grandson David Wendeln II, two sisters Oletha Bassett and Gyneth Crates.

Grace was a graduate of McComb High School. She was a member of Oakdale United Methodist Church teaching Sunday School, a church representative to District Conference at Lakeside, OH and was a life-time member of Gideons International Auxiliary and served with Bill Glass Prison Ministry. She worked alongside her husband on the family farms and Leader Orchard.

One of the best ways to honor Grace’s life would be to hold the door open for a stranger, share a smile, or bake an apple pie or baked apples for someone who’s hurting and need to know someone cares.

There will be a private burial service and a memorial scheduled for a later date.
