James Bockelman
James "Jim" Bockelman, of Ohio, passed away on September 1, 2026. He was born on July 11, 1936, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Louis and Lucille (Kohn) Bockelman.
Jim shared nearly 40 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Pauline Spring Bockelman, who survives him.
He is also survived by his children, Carol (Christopher) Thieman, Cathy (Robert) Moore, Patricia Timbers, James Bake, Kelly (Mark) Kruzel, Teresa (David) Hanudel, and Sue Hanudel; grandchildren, Amy (Dan) Drill, Jason Timbers, Nicole (Joe) Carbonara, James (Brandi) Shearer, Danielle Thieman, Alec (Beth) Thieman, James (Patrick) Bake Jr., Ryan (Ashley) Bake, Kim (Robert) Kahle, Kristina (Eric) Sowinski, Matt Kruzel, Jodi (Mason) Pierce, Alex (Candase) Hanudel, Nick (Missy) Hanudel, and Natalie Hanudel; great-grandchildren, David Thieman, Esther Thieman, Gavin Drill, Hazel Drill, Logan Shearer, Collin Sowinski, Max Sowinksi, Kenzie Sowinksi, Alyssa Kahle, Alex Hanudel Jr., Caydance Hanudel, Elli Hanudel, Destiny Hanudel, Gwen Pierce, and Ellie Pierce.
He was preceded in death by his brother, William Bockelman; grandson, Eric Timbers; and great-grandson, Jason Hanudel.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from January 1954 to January 1957 and later continued his service in the Marine Corps Reserve until 1961.
He spent many years working at the Libbey-Owens-Ford plant in Rossford, Ohio. Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and spending time outdoors.
After retiring, Jim and Pauline moved to Florida, where he planned to spend his retirement playing golf. Retirement, however, turned out to be a little too quiet for Jim. Deciding that golf alone was simply too boring, he went back to work — this time at Walt Disney World.
Jim will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his strong work ethic, his service to his country, and the many years of memories he created with those he loved.
Services will be held privately with the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society, in Jim’s memory.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hanneman Funeral Home, 302 E. Maple Street, Liberty Center, Ohio 43532.
Fond memories and online condolences may be shared with the family through Hanneman Funeral Homes https://www.hannemanfuneralhomes.com.
