James Daniel Heilman, 88, of Kenton, Ohio, passed away April 21, 2023.  He was born on June 25, 1934, in Hardin County to Arlo Heilman and Edith (Born) Heilman.  On August 31, 1978, he married Imogene (Jean) Lenhart who survives.

Jim graduated in 1952 from Kenton High School and attended The Ohio State University. He was the owner of Jim’s Auto Sales and Service. He was a member of the Jaycees, Elks, Moose and was a 25 year 4-H advisor.  He is a member of the Walnut Grove Methodist Church.

Jim enjoyed fishing, boating, shooting hoops, being a Florida snowbird, attending flea markets, and collecting l957 Chevy parts, which he used for his restoration projects.

He was a jack-of-all trades including house remodeling and watch repairing.  He loved keeping his children, step-children and step-grandchildren entertained with pedal cars, go-karts, mini bikes, swimming pools, and sled rides.  He taught his children and grandchildren to drive by using older vintage cars from his collection.

In addition to his wife, Jean, Jim is survived by his sister, Mae Frost of Dublin, Ohio; daughters, LaDonna (John) Woellert of Columbus, Ohio and Teresa Stone (Dave Powell) of Marietta, Ohio. Also surviving are stepchildren: Deb (Jim) Oberhaus of Bluffton, Ohio, Julie Lenhart (Deb Pallozzi) of Ithaca, New York, Steve Lenhart of Findlay, Ohio, and Kathy Schroeder (Dick Zuchetto) of Kenton, Ohio; step-grandchildren Kelli (Mark Hudson) Schroeder, Megan (Josh) Frisbie, Kevin (Amanda) Lenhart, and Lukas Schroeder, as well as several step-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and his good friend, Jerry Rall.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Heilman, sister in-law Dottie Heilman, brother-in-law Jack Frost, mother of his children Marilyn (Bowman) Heilman, and step-son Michael Lenhart.

His wishes were to be cremated. Memorial gifts in Jim’s honor can be given to Walnut Grove Methodist Church, 13502 Twp Rd 80, Kenton, OH, 43326, American Heart Association, 26555 Evergreen Rd. Suite 570, Southfield, MI 48076 or Dementia Society of America, P.O Box 600, Doylestown, PA, 18901.
