James Myers Obituary

James Myers, 88, passed away in Napoleon, OH on July 3rd, 2024.  Formally from Liberty Center, OH, he was born to Franklin and Francis (Morey) Myers who preceded him in death.
James, or Jim as family and friends called him, led a diverse career and life.  He honorably served in the US Army, Ohio Army National Guard and Army Reserves for 33 years, retiring as a Warrant Officer.  He also served on the Board of Trustees for Owens Community College.  On top of being a real estate agent for Desalles and Whalen, he spent much of his civilian life as an electrician retiring from Libby Owens Ford, Rossford, OH.  Additionally, he was active in his church and community serving one term as Mayor of Liberty Center and many years on the village council.
Jim lived a life full of adventures that he shared with his sweetheart and wife Ardith, who preceded him in death.  They enjoyed extensive traveling in the US and abroad, camping and fishing with family and friends.  Catching the big one stories were recounted numerous times to all.  Jim was an excellent cook and hosted many fish fry's where all were invited to share in the catches of the day.  His chili and "secret recipe" peanut butter cookies will be hard to replicate as ingredients can't match the pride and love that he put into his cooking.
Opa, as all his grandchildren referred to him, will be missed.  Especially his tips on living, tall stories and corny jokes.  But mostly his generosity and love.
He is survived by son Doug (Sue) Myers, Daughter-in-Law, Sherry Myers, daughter Lynn (Vernon) Oberhaus, and brother Lyle (Nancy) Myers.  Grandchildren:  Josh (Sarah) Oberhaus, Katie Oberhaus, Lucas (Kristin) Oberhaus, Julia (Tim) Myers-Binkowski, Alex (Bethany) Myers, Marcus Myers, Amy (Todd) Niles, Nicole (Frankie) D'Ambrosia, Heather (Ben) Wilhelm, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, beloved nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Ardith; his son Craig and infant son Jeffery; brothers Dallas and Richard; and sisters Eileen and Janet.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to hospice for their compassionate care and support.
