James Joseph Stacklin

James Joseph Stacklin, 89, of Attica, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026, surrounded by his family, at the Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on December 31, 1936, to the late Gilbert and Catherine (Bechtel) Stacklin, in North Auburn, Ohio.

Jim was a 1954 graduate of New Washington High School. He worked at Bucyrus Road Materials after graduation, then worked for Bishop Motors in New Washington as a mechanic. Jim retired in 2014 from Midwest Industries in Willard after 45 years. As well as being a lifelong farmer, Jim's hobbies included restoring Allis Chalmers tractors and showing them at the local fair. He also enjoyed hunting with family.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years Esther (Wise) Stacklin, whom he married on July 12, 1958. They were wed at St. Sebastian Church in Bismark, Ohio by Fr. John Keller. He has five children: Marvin Stacklin, Cheryl Dix, Duane (Beth) Stacklin, Elaine (Steve) Fenner and Deanna (Mark) Weithman; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty great grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Clara Kline, Ruth Schimpf, Gerald (Becky) Stacklin, Karen Porter and in-laws Carol Stacklin, Ruth Stacklin, Pauline Faulhaber, Kenneth Wise, Barb Stanfield, Karen Ewing, and Judy Metz and numerous niece's and nephew's.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his brothers: August, John, and Richard Stacklin; sister Mary Catherine Stacklin; brother-in-laws: Victor Kline, Paul Schimpf, and Charles Porter; son in-law Thomas Dix; daughter in-law Tiffany Stacklin, granddaughter Toni Beers; and granddaughter Dana Renee Frankart.

Visitation for Jim will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Hanneman Funeral Home, 295 W. Tiffin Street, Attica, Ohio 44807. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 320 Stump Pike Road, Attica, Ohio, 44807.
