James (Hap) Sharpe

James (Hap) Sharpe, 85, of Liberty Center, Ohio passed away at his home in Liberty Center on August 24, 2021. James was born on March 2, 1936 to the late Bryan A. and France G. (Wulff) Sharpe. He married Anna Mae Perry on May 4, 1963 at Neapolis Church of Christ, Neapolis and she preceded him in death on September 24, 1992. James married Sharon Bates on January 6, 1996 and she survives.

James was a 1954 graduate of Napoleon High School and he served his country in the National Guard. He worked as an equipment operator/mechanic for the Harper Supply Co. for 43 years until his retirement. In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling and restoring old cars, trucks, and tractors. James was a member of the Liberty Center Wesleyan Church, a past member of the River City Rodders and a member of the Maumee Valley Retired Iron Tractor Club in Napoleon.

James is survived by his wife Sharon; children: Mike (Anne) Sharpe of Liberty Center, Jeff (Lori) Sharp of Ridgeville Corners, and Lynn (Todd) Heller of Whitehouse; grandchildren: Joseph and Wesley Sharpe; Tayte, Hannah, and Hailee Heller; stepchildren: Tim Bates, of Custar, Beth (Rich) Seymour of Erie, PA, and Jenny (Chris) Jacobs of Custar.

James was preceded in death by his brothers: Clyde (Bud), Lawson, and Eldon, and a sister Patricia Heilman.

Visitation for James will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 11:00 AM until the time of his Funeral Service at 1:00 PM in the Hanneman Funeral Home, 302 E. Maple Street, Liberty Center, Ohio. Interment will immediately follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions in James’s honor may be gifted to the United Way of Henry County or the Liberty-Washington Township Fire Department.
