James "Jamie" Tallman Obituary

James “Jamie” Tallman, 90, of Liberty Center passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021 in the comfort of his own home, where he spent his last day and hours surrounded by his loving family.

Jamie was born on August 15, 1930 in Liberty Township to the late James and Audrey (Hill) Tallman. He married the love of his life Marilyn Heckler on January 10, 1954 in the Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church and she preceded him in death on January 27, 2013. James is survived by his children: Cheryl (Rick) Shadday of Liberty Center, Ohio, Jeanne (Stan) Maughan of Strasburg, Pennsylvania, Diane Reynolds of Jupiter, Florida and Wayne (Lucy) Tallman of Chesterville, Maine, 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren with one on the way and sisters: Ruth (Bill) Hall of Hamler, Ohio, Sue Fletcher of Paradise Valley, Arizona and Martha (Tony) Baker of Napoleon, Ohio. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law Kevin Reynolds.

Jamie graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1950. Jamie proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Philippine Sea. He worked at the DT & I Railroad, Ohio Turnpike Commission and retired from SE Johnson Company. Jamie was also a member of the Liberty Chapel Church where he served as a Trustee and a Sunday School teacher.  Jamie had a strong belief and trust his entire life for his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. His walk with the Lord grew increasingly deep the longer he lived.  He was a lifelong farmer in Liberty Township and a member of the Liberty Center VFW and the Napoleon American Legion Post #300. He also had a passion for hunting, fishing and spending time with his family at the pond where many family gatherings were held. This past August for his 90th birthday, Jamie’s family gathered to celebrate his life, something Jamie cherished being able to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
