Jeanne Kerr

Jeanne Kerr, age 79, of Charlotte, North Carolina, formerly of Fremont, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 7, 2026. Born on May 26, 1946, in Norwalk, Ohio, she was the beloved daughter of Robert and Ethel (Davis) Smith and the wife of Ronald Kerr, who preceded her in death.

Jeanne was a proud graduate of St. Joseph Central Catholic High School, Class of 1964, Jeanne went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Dayton. She and Ron were married on August 2, 1969, and returned to Fremont in 1975, where she spent the majority of her life in her cherished "three- block radius" raising her family and building lifelong connections.

Jeanne dedicated more than 25 years to SJCC community, where she taught, mentored and served in many roles including Student Council Advisor, Lead Kairos Instructor, Assistant Athletic Director, and Cheerleading Advisor. She was a constant source of support and encouragement to her students and colleagues, leaving a lasting impact on all those who knew her. She was a true inspiration to all.

Jeanne is survived by her sons Ron (Erin) Kerr, Michael (Mandy) Kerr, and Tom (Alicia) Kerr; her siblings Carol Belle, Bob (Sharon) Smith, Sharon (Bud) Moody, Mike (Mary) Smith, and Rob (Patti) Kerr; step-sisters Lynn (Gary) Langel and Karen Kitchen; and her beloved grandchildren Jill, Julia, Katelyn, Abby, Emily, and Tyler, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will honor her memory. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents: Robert, Ethel (Davis)Smith: her husband Ron: Eileen (Kitchen) Smith and her brother-in-law Don Belle.

Her family invites all to join them in celebrating Jeanne's life. Visitation will take place on April 22 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hanneman-Keller Funeral Home in Fremont, Ohio. A Funeral Mass will be held on April 23 at 10:00 AM at the Fremont St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
