Jerry John Johnson

Jerry J. Johnson, age 83, of Lima passed away peacefully on June 7, 2022 at St. Rita’s Medical Center. He was born on October 3, 1938 in Alma, Michigan, to the late Harold and  Elizabeth (Raycraft) Johnson. On August 15, 1959 he married Nancy Nadine (Furry) Johnson at St. Rose Rectory. She preceded him in death on July 14, 2001. He married Margarita (Santa Maria) Johnson on May 3, 2002, and she survives in Lima.

Jerry is survived by his children: Denise M. (Michael) Ritcher, Jeffrey B. (Sharon) Johnson, Jenell A. (Eric) Krites; Step children: Heidi & Dean Altstaetter. He is survived by12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Jerry graduated from Lima Central Catholic High School, attended Weaver Airline Trade School and served in the Army stationed in France in telecommunications. He retired from Dana Corporation after 30 years of service. His love of travel took him to many places including over 10 countries. He enjoyed golf, square dancing, bowling, reading, movies and spending time with family. He was a Parishioner of St. Charles Catholic Church in Lima and previously volunteered at St. Rita’s Hospital. 

On Tuesday, June 14, friends may call at the Gathering Area at St. Charles Church, 2200 W. Elm St Lima Ohio 45805, from 9am-11am, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am, the celebrant will be Fr. Kent Kaufman. Interment will follow Mass at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum, 3000 Harding Highway, Lima, with Military Honors provided by The US Army, The American Legion/VFW combined Honor Guard, and the Patriot Guard Riders.
