John Gage Aukerman, 78, of McComb, passed away early in the morning of Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Birchaven Village, Findlay, Ohio. He was born on March 29, 1947, to the late Gage and Alta (Clark) Aukerman.
John was a 1966 graduate of McComb High School. Following graduation, he was drafted into the United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served in Vietnam for 13 months, being awarded two Purple Hearts. Following his service, John returned to McComb and worked at Cooper Tire for 38 years. He was an avid Ohio State Football fan, and loved to farm on his family farm. He also loved attending games and activities for his nieces and nephews.
John will be remembered for his quiet and laid back, but generous and giving spirit. He is survived by his sisters: Judith Ann (Bill - deceased) Boblenz, Jane Shepard, Janet (Michael) Rich; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his two brothers: Jeffrey Aukerman, Joe Aukerman; and a nephew, Steve Aukerman.
A gathering will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 11:00AM, until the time of a Celebration of Life Service, at 1:00PM, at Hanneman Funeral Home, 370 South Park Drive, McComb, Ohio, 45848. Interment will follow at McComb Union Cemetery, where full Military Honors will be conferred by the Hancock County Veteran's Memorial Squad.
