John Smith Obituary

John Denver Smith, 87, of Findlay, formerly of McComb, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Bridge Hospice in Findlay, Ohio. He was born in Deshler, Ohio, to the late Denver Smith and Florence (Seiler) Winter, and was raised by his grandparents, Burton and Lydia Smith. John married the love of his life, Janice Altman, on June 7th, 1958, and they shared 67 beautiful years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by children: Dawn (Kevin) Rettig, and Brad (Taria) Smith; a granddaughter Desi (Adam) Hauenstein; and great-grandchildren: Leni Hauenstein, and Gypsy and Story Belle Rettig; a half-brother, Burton Smith; and a step-brother, Carl Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, step-father, Michael Winter, and a grandson, Skyler Rettig.

John retired from Phillips Display Components after 40 years of service on September 30, 1996. He was a member of the McComb Church of Christ and First United Church of Christ of FIndlay, where he and Janice faithfully attended. John's family would like to take this opportunity to thank the nurses and doctors at Bridge Hospice for their wonderful care.

Services for John will be private. Burial will occur at McComb Union Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be shared with Bridge Home Health and Hospice, 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay, Ohio, 45840.
