John Theodore Fila

Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at age 89 years. John was born on September 7, 1936 in Saginaw, Michigan. Son of the late Joe and Mary (Popielarz) Fila of Saginaw, Michigan. In 1959 he married Noreen Polaske; they celebrated 66 years of marriage together.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife Noreen, four children, Michael (Virginia) Fila of East Lansing; Chris (Melissa) Fila of Saginaw; Toni Fila of East Lansing and Kelly (Bryan) Sears of Bowling Green, Ohio. Nine grandchildren; Nicholas (Ashley) Fila, Andrew Fila, Haley Fila, Parker Ackerman, Connor Ackerman, Spencer Ackerman, Stella Sears, Scarlet Sears, Whitney Linzey; and 5 great grandchildren, Arlo Fila, Otto Fila, Archie Fila, Rowan, and Emryn.

John served in the United States Marine Corps, worked as a supervisor at General Motors for 42 years, and was a devout Catholic. His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, bowling, and golf. He loved all sports, especially baseball and the Detroit Tigers. His overall love was spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids.

John joins his siblings, Frank, Floyd, Helen, Isabelle, and his beloved dog Rumor in heaven.

Honoring John's wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place on Friday, April 3, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Snow Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m.

There will be a luncheon following at Chris and Melissa's at 3136 Sundown, Saginaw, Michigan.
