John T. Flood, age 93, passed away peacefully, in his home, on January 22, 2021, with loving family members present.
John was born on January 2, 1928 in Bethesda, Ohio to Carl and Mary Flood. He graduated from Bethesda High School in 1946. On April 19, 1950, he married Beatrice C. Myers, in Greenup, Kentucky. They were married for 69 years, until her passing in January, 2020.
John was an electrician, employed by R. R. Donnelley & Sons, until his retirement in 1992. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing on the Sandusky River, hunting in Monroe County, Ohio and camping in the Ohio Power area of southeastern Ohio. John had a passion for sprint car racing and volunteered his time for many years to get the track ready for Friday night racing at Attica Raceway Park. He also enjoyed spending time and sharing his wisdom with the Brandon Martin racing team. He enjoyed family dinners and cookouts, searching for treasures at flea markets, helping out at the saw mill at the Oak Ridge Festival and tinkering in his garage. John also had a real knack for finding four leaf clovers and shared them with family and friends, for good luck.
John is survived by his loving children: Cheri (Troy) Wilson of Attica, Marybeth (Mark) Byers of Republic, Charles (Marla) Flood of Attica, Jean (Leonard) Schank of Attica, and Judy Flood of Toledo. Eight grandchildren Chris (Andrea) Saylors, Stacey Saylors, Ryan Bishop, Jordan (Courtney) Schank, Lance Bishop, Joe (Stephanie) Flood, Hannah (Brad) Hitchings, and Mahalah Schank. Thirteen great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-granchildren.
In addition to his parents and loving wife, Beatrice, John was predeceased by his son Thomas Flood, his sister, Eleene McCann, brothers, Robert Flood, Phillip “Gene” Flood, and Conrad Flood.
Graveside services will be held on February 13, 2021, 2:00 p.m. at Attica-Venice Cemetery, Attica, Ohio. Longtime family friend, Rev. Rex King will officiate. Those attending the graveside services are asked to wear masks and to practice social distancing.
