John David Sites

January 18, 1947 ~ June 1, 2021 (age 74)


John David Sites, 74, of Lima, Ohio passed away at 9:45 AM on June 1, 2021. He was born on January 18, 1947 to the late John and Rose Arnold-Sites. He married Rhonda Sharp-Sites in 2007 and they were together until her passing in 2015.

David is survived by his daughters: Kelly Glynn, Kay Sites, Kari Sites, and half-sister Devon McArdle; sisters: Peg Masters, Nancy Griffith, and Laura Baudo; brother Rick Sites; grandchildren: Lauren Barriger, John Thomas Glynn III, Lindsey Barriger-Koch, Emma Glynn, and LeeAnna Barriger; ex-wife Amy Martin; and father-in-law Gene Sharp. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Rose; wife Rhonda Sharp-Sites; brothers: Daniel and Steve Sites; and sister Patricia Armentrout. 

David graduated from Lima Central Catholic School with honors and then received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Indiana Tech, where he was the president of his fraternity. David was an lifetime golfer. He had a passion for boating, playing chess and billiards, and was an an avid reader. He was well-known as being a free-thinker, a conservative Republican, and some say he was a little stubborn. He had every sense of humor you could think of, and always knew how to make those around him laugh. Above all, he was a loving caretaker to his family and a devout Catholic.  

A visitation for David will be held on Saturday June 5, 2021 from 10:00-11:00AM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 2200 West Elm St. Lima, OH 45805, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow beginning at 11:00AM. Entombment will take place following Mass at Gethsemani Cemetery, 2001 Spencerville Rd, Lima, OH 45805. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hanneman-Siferd Funeral Home.
