June Hart Obituary

June Ann Hart, 87, of Fremont, OH passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 in the comfort of home surrounded by her loving family.  She succumbed to Covid-19 after a long and happy life.

June was born at the family’s home in Leipsic, Ohio on February 4, 1933 to the late Albert Joseph and Mary Frances (Blake) Schmidt. She met the love of her life, Gerald "Jerry" Francis Hart at Toledo Central Catholic High School and they married at Holy Rosary Cathedral on October 11, 1952. Jerry preceded her in death on May 26, 2003.

June was the proud and devoted mother of seven children who survive her: Patrick Joseph (Mary Lynn) Hart of Lincolnville, Maine, Susan Marie (Rex) Radeloff of Fremont, Thomas David (Jane) Hart of Milton, Georgia, Robert Gerald (Julie) Hart of Fremont, Michael Alan Hart of Pendleton, New York, Mary Beth Hart and Carrie Lynn Szymanowski both of Grandview Heights, Ohio. Additionally, June is survived by her brother, Robert Schmidt, of Toledo, OH, and her sister, Mary (Jerry) Wilson, of Swanton, Ohio. When the family would gather June was always proud and amazed at the beautiful legacy of the family she and Jerry created which includes her twenty grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

June was preceded in death by siblings Margaret Elizabeth Schliewe, Rose Marie Lanes and James Albert Schmidt as well as her son-in-law, Steven Clemens Szymanowski.

"Junie" was often humming or singing a favorite tune as she whiled her day away in her beautiful flower gardens or prepared meals for her family. Her pies, made from apples, cherries, strawberries or rhubarb grown in the family's backyard, were unrivaled. Her springerlee cookies are a tradition her family proudly continues. Her joyful voice, her pies and her cookies, as well as the happiness they occasioned, will be missed in equal measure.

When family responsibilities finally permitted, June took up golf with enthusiasm. Without doubt, she would have been a scratch golfer if not for the many years spent in selfless devotion to her family.  June made the most of every day, her constant smile a reminder of how deeply she treasured moments with family and friends.

June was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was involved in Altar Rosary Society and the sympathy choir, and enjoyed volunteering at spaghetti dinners, the summer festival, and in the school cafeteria.

A private graveside service was held at the Saint Joseph Cemetery. A memorial Mass and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hanneman-Chudzinski-Keller Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch St., Fremont, Ohio 43420.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be gifted in June’s memory to Bishop Hoffman Catholic School, 702 Croghan St., Fremont, Ohio 43420.
