Karis Rice

Karis “Putt” Delight Rice, 81, of Holland, Ohio passed away May 12, 2020. Karis was born on August 5, 1938 in Neapolis, Ohio to the late Ferrel Fredrick and Leona Bell (Foor) Bolley. She married James Marion Rice Jr. on December 19, 1954 in Grand Rapids, Ohio and he preceded her in death on July 8, 2015.

Karis is survived by her daughter Jacquelin (James) Wolfe of Holland, Ohio; son Steve (Debra) Rice of Liberty Center, Ohio; brother: Marlin (Debra) Bolley of Neapolis; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Karis was preceded in death by her brother Loren Terry Bolley; sisters Romna Hawkins and Hope Rice.

Karis worked at Principal Business Enterprises for 39 years in the shipping department. She loved to go to garage sales and find treasures for others. She played bingo, liked owls, and collecting chicken décor. Karis always had a dog around and especially loved Buffy and Rags. She enjoyed being around people, especially young people (they kept her young). She was known as Granny Putt and had many sayings. One the ones she always said was “You’ll appreciate it more if you have to wait for it.”

Visitation for Karis will be held on Friday, May 22, 2020 from 11:00 AM until the time of her Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 noon in Hanneman Funeral Home, 24084 W. Second Street, Grand Rapids, Ohio.

Memorial Contributions in Karis’s honor may be gifted to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
