Linda Whitacre Cockman was born on May 7, 1949 at the Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay. She died October 10, 2020 at the Heritage. She had COVID-19.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Cockman, her grandmother Matilda Nye, with whom she was especially close and her parents, Jim and Juanita Whitacre. She is survived by her sister Nancy Firth and her brother Mike Whitacre.
Linda lived almost her entire life in Findlay. She was a 1967 graduate of Findlay High School. In her later years she lived at the Senior Towers and Fox Run Assisted Living. She enjoyed driving through the Drive-Thru at Wilson’s for a “special” and having a picnic at Donnell pond or Firestine Park.
She enjoyed taking her sister’s dog Debo to Shady Grove for ice cream or going to Dietsch’s for a strawberry cheesecake cone. Linda enjoyed days at Lake Erie, camping and counted cross stitch. She was an avid reader. Linda enjoyed watching television following the Detroit Tigers, Pittsburgh Steelers and Tiger Woods. Even though she never owned a home, she enjoyed watching shows on HGTV about buying and repairing homes. NCIS was her favorite show.
Linda was a fantastic cook working at Bob Evans, Olers, the Dark Horse and Southside Family Restaurant. Linda was very mechanical and could construct or repair anything by reading the instructions.
Services for Linda will be private.
