Luz "Lucy" Bringas McCready was born on June 25, 1949, in the town of Angad, Bangued, Abra, Philippines, where her life began as one of generosity, resilience, and quiet grace. On November 23, 2024, Luz passed away peacefully in the loving care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio, surrounded by the family who adored her. At 75, she left behind a legacy of love that will be felt far beyond her years.
To know Luz was to know warmth and welcome. Her kitchen was always alive with the aroma of home-cooked meals, where she delighted in sharing her favorite dishes with anyone lucky enough to walk through her door. She had an extraordinary way of making people feel seen, loved, and cared for-whether it was through a plate of food, her witty humor, her thoughtful words, or her gentle presence.
Her kindness knew no boundaries. This was perhaps best exemplified by the bond she shared with her neighbors, Rodney and Emily, and their children, Lawson, Lydia, and Lian. To them, Luz wasn't just a neighbor-she was family, always ready with a warm smile or a kind word. Together, they shared laughter, stories, and a connection that will never fade.
Luz was a devoted wife to James "Jim" McCready, whose steadfast love was the foundation of her world. She took immense pride in her children, Mark McCready (Stacey) and Caressa Armstrong (Alec), watching them grow and thrive with the quiet joy of a mother whose love is unconditional. She was also a treasured sister, leaving behind Nenet Banggad (Saturnino), Alda Bringas, Editha Claro (Armando), Irene Bringas, Emie Boyer (Martin), and Zeny Bringas (Lilian). She was also loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. She is now reunited in eternal peace with her parents, Mariano Beralde Bringas and Serafina Batoon Bringas, and her brothers, Florencio "Flor" Bringas, Leonardo "Leo" Bringas, and Nonette Bringas.
Those who knew Luz will remember her as a woman of faith and grace, whose strength came not from grand gestures but from her steadfast love for others. She found beauty in life's simplest moments: the sound of laughter at family gatherings, the peace of tending her garden, and the quiet joy of being surrounded by the people she held dearest.
