Lyle W. Miller of Liberty Center, Ohio passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the age of 80. The son of Fred and Eleanor (Chapman) Miller, he was born June 18, 1941 in Fostoria, Ohio. Upon graduation from Fostoria High School in 1960, Lyle attended the Ohio State University earning both his Bachelor and Master degree in Music. He seldom missed watching an OSU football game. Lyle’s teaching career spanned 31 years as a music teacher and choral director at Findlay High School and Southview High School (Sylvania, Ohio) where his choruses were perennial award winners. He often expressed pride in the accomplishments of so many of his former students. His passions and interests were many. An avid collector of antiques, over the years Lyle lived in three lovingly restored Victorian homes, each masterfully decorated with pieces from his ever-growing collection. Other passions included Victorian architecture, gardening, cooking, boating at his modular home in Saugatuck, Michigan and spending time with family and friends. Lyle’s personality could easily fill a room and his infectious laughter was nearly impossible to resist. The art of storytelling and his love of dogs and cats comprise key parts in defining who he was. Lyle is survived by his devoted partner of 38 years, Kurt Van Meter, his brother Don (Jean) Miller and his sister Norma (Chuck) Beamer. Additionally, he will be missed by scores of friends who will always cherish memories of his wry grin and his sparkling blue eyes. Rest in peace, Lyle. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Memorials may be made to Bridge Hospice at Wood Co. Hospital.
