Madalyn R. Wammes, 95, of Fremont, Ohio passed away Saturday August 28, 2021.
Madalyn was born on June 11, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Roland and Mary Monica (Seymore) Spaulding. She married Paul Wammes on August 12, 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fremont and he preceded her in death on November 23, 2008 after 62 years of marriage.
Madalyn is survived by her children: Patricia (Ernest) Kornahrens, of Charleston, South Carolina, David (Sharon) Wammes of Fremont, Ohio, Monica (Donald) Deventer of Tiffin, Ohio, John (Karen) Wammes of Higden, Arkansas, Dan (Peggy) Wammes of Fremont, Ohio and Cindy (Jeff) Herr of Fremont, Ohio; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild on the way. She was preceded in death by her grandsons Ryan and Jared and brothers Frank and Jerry Spaulding.
Madalyn was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fremont. Madalyn was also a member of the Garden Club, Eagles and the Moose in Fremont. Madalyn enjoyed making jewelry for people as well as sewing, needlepoint and crocheting. Madalyn also enjoyed reading a good book by Daniel Steele. Madalyn was a collector of angels, purses and bells. Madalyn and Paul enjoyed traveling, especially to the East Coast and Florida. She also loved roller skating, bowling, playing cards and in her later years coloring. Madalyn was a proud farmers’ wife, loving mother to six children and loved her grandchildren dearly.
Visitation for Madalyn will be on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 4:00-8:00 PM in the Hanneman-Chudzinski-Keller Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch St., Fremont, Ohio 43420, Madalyn’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 709 Croghan St., Fremont, Ohio 43420, with Rev. Michael Roemmele, Celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
