Marjory "Bunkie" Obermyer

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marjory "Bunkie" Obermyer, who left this world on July 7, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on March 8, 1958, Bunkie was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Terry Obermyer Jr. (Heather), Ginger Obermyer (Tim Kelly) and Cindy Obermyer (Matt Messmer). Bunkie is also survived by her siblings: Marie Steinke, Gary (Doris) Snyder, Marilyn Snyder, and Peg (Wayne) Thompson, along with her cherished grandchildren: Cooper, Avery, Tucker, and Willow.

Bunkie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Estella (Savage) Snyder, her brother Phil, and her sister Marlene. A graduate of St. Ursula Academy in Toledo, she held various roles throughout her career. She worked for the Andersons, drove bus for Otsego Schools, she owned and operated Rapids Meats & Grocery for 13 years and retired from Home Depot in 2018. She also served on the Grand Rapids Village Council and as Mayor.

Bunkie was known for being the life of the party and for her love to entertain. She enjoyed relaxing by the pool, sitting on her front porch, watching birds and squirrels, and playing cards. An avid animal lover, Bunkie trained horses in her younger years and shared her life with her beloved dogs.

Visitation will take place at Hanneman Funeral Home - Grand Rapids on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM. All those who wish to honor Bunkie's vibrant spirit are encouraged to wear their favorite Hawaiian shirt or bright colors to reflect her colorful and unforgettable personality. A reception will immediately follow the Celebration of Life at the Grand Rapids American Legion.
