Melvin David Sims

Melvin David Sims, 71 years old went to be with his heavenly father on January 18th, 2025 at 11:24am in Lima OH. He was born on May 6, 1953 to John L. and Martha (Nettles) Sims in Lima Ohio whom precedes him in heaven. He married the love of his life Cheryl (Evans) Sims on October 7th, 1972. They were married for 52 blissful years.

Melvin had many joys in life. He enjoyed fishing with his favorite fishing buddy his brother John L. He enjoyed Lima Senior Football, Thee Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns but most of all his grand legacy (grandchildren) as he would call them. After 42 years of service, he retired from Buckeye Rubber as a machinist. He was known for being a very meek, humble and an overall very good man that smiled at everything and everyone. His favorite saying when he would enter a room was, “There he is”.

Leaving to continue  his legacy; 2 sons Travis Sims, Cornell Sims and 1 daughter Lasheena Sims all of Lima. 2 Loving brothers John L. (Linda) Sims Jr., Tony Long and 4 sisters Ruby Sims, Armin (Charles) Sims Petty, Betty Sims, and Carolyn Sims. 12 beautiful  grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Welcoming him into heaven is 4 brothers Roy Sims, James Sims, Joe Sims, Earnest Sims and 1 sister Shelly Sims Macklin 1 grandson Cordell Sims. His Special fur baby leaping and wagging his tail welcoming dad in heaven, Alex Sims.

Wednesday, January 29th, 2025 visitation will be 11:00am-1:00pm with services at 1:00pm at Siferd-Hanneman Funeral Home in Lima Ohio. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
